Living in our era, diving in all the social media of fragmentations, it is more than easy to lose a sense of time.

But time itself has a history. Time is more an ideology than a factual thing.

I filmed 15 clips of what happened in my parents’ house, and each is 60 seconds.

Here you can nap a minute with my cat, you can hear the wind blowing for a minute, you can eat with my grandparents for a minute, you can even accompany my niece doing her primary school homework, and etc.

Come and taste what is a minute like.

This is a new experimentation, searching for a way to give my paintings a physical body in a room. Interrogating the light that is able to be omnipresent in a place, I try to get different perceptions of my painted landscape through the utilisation of red light corresponding to the red colour of my monochrome.

The Hoping Mechanism

Operating in the shadow of political turmoil yet anticipating forms of unrealised technological control, one is compelled to locate the infinite within the finite. Where rests the potential for a limitless horizon that operates beyond the slippery semiotics of the human navigating an ever-expanding and increasingly unfamiliar territory?

‘Earth-Energy’

My practice revolves around themes of belonging, as a way of contextualising my existence through investigations of the convergence of spirituality and physicality. I am working to create imaginary landscapes, tracing memories on the canvas from experiences of the past, in search for meaning in the present.

‘Experiencing the intangible’

My main interest is mathematics. After a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a second one in graphic design, I joined CSM. I believe mathematical objects are real, but exist outside time and space. My focus is on trying to make people experience those intangible entities, in a poetic,
suggestive, analogical way.

’10 Breaths for Ostara’ is an intimate performance piece exploring direct relationship with nature’s subtle forces at work, the vegetal and the act of giving through offering breathes to the goddess Ostara in the run up to this spring equinox. Inhale, exhale, nourish. It’s an exercise in awareness.

‘The Third Bank of the River’: Distance, time, and silence in art practices.

What’s the noise of the image? What’s the texture of sound? What’s my desire projection in art practice? I imaging there is a river we named it ‘time,’ one side of the river is audio, the other is visual. Between audio and visual, both are representative for means, but how far is a distance to the third bank?

GETTING LOST IN A MAZE OF ORANGE TREES

A playful yet disorienting journey inside the body: merging digital, organic, human, and non-human. The focus is on the possibilities related to a new understanding of matter. Time allows processes to happen, and empathy starts to create a connection between them and what is human.

Kuidou Bowl Project

The project is a hybrid of ethnographic research, 3D animation, documentary, and legends. The Kuidou Bowl I found in my hometown (Chaoshan, Guangdong Province, China), is a thread that connects the region’s traditional value system, the diasporic families stories, and the local history of food shortages over centuries.

Emptiness

Everything that we see and any results that we know are not necessarily the things and results as they are. Before everything starts, all is vanity. I hope this work can convey some emotions to the audience, because everyone will feel different emotions after different experiences.

A fictional archive of my personal obsession with documentation, in which I attempt to categorise the materials by ‘memory’ and ‘documentation’, the copy and the original, the unreliable and the authentic, the cadaver and the ghost. My current investigation spiralled from obtaining an outmoded camera that does not work anymore.

Coral Bleaching

The three-channel video, Empathy, was filmed in Hainan Island, China. It provides the first-hand visual representation of seabed structure and the scale of bleaching. The serious nature of coral bleaching exemplifies the consequences of climate change, it is possible to trigger positive changes which impede environmental damage.

This project is made by fragmented videos and sounds together, as well as combining with my previous animation, to present a narrative story in China from multiple perspectives, which mainly focus on destiny, free will, and how to face failure in the contemporary society.
